Spanning the Kansas River between Kansas City, Kansas and Missouri, the historic Rock Island Bridge was redeveloped into a one-of-a-kind elevated entertainment destination.
Originally constructed as a railroad crossing, the structure sat unused for decades before being reimagined as a public venue combining dining, gathering, and panoramic riverfront views. The adaptive reuse required modern building-envelope solutions that respected the bridge’s industrial character while enabling safe, year-round occupancy.
JR&CO partnered with the project team to deliver exterior envelope systems that support the bridge’s transformation while preserving its visual identity. The completed work blends contemporary materials with historic structure, creating a durable, weather-tight enclosure that allows the bridge to function as a vibrant public space suspended above the river.
