UMKC Miller Nichols Library is a central academic facility on the University of Missouri–Kansas City campus, and JR&CO completed a full roofing replacement on the structure. The project involved installing 35,000 square feet of Versico 60-mil TPO in gray. Work occurred during a rainy period, requiring extensive planning to safely remove the existing roofing system over active library spaces without causing interior damage.
JR&CO served as the prime contractor and coordinated with both MBE and WBE partners to meet state participation requirements. The project team planned material staging, weather monitoring, and sequencing strategies to maintain continuous building protection throughout tear-off and installation.
Despite seasonal weather challenges and the sensitivity of working above occupied academic areas, the project progressed without incident. Field conditions did not require significant design adjustments, and only a minimal punch list was generated at closeout. The roofing system was completed within the intended schedule parameters and restored watertight integrity to the facility.
